Thoughts from Thursday

Our Living Skills classes personified a pencil for their envelope entry #8.  They then practiced their hand stitching skills on their pencil pouch design.

Health class engaged in a partner project regarding nutrients.  We also did some curb stepping and brisk walking to accelerate our heart rate as we continue our Target Heart Rate Chart.

The Family and Consumer Science classes took their Sewing Safety Test today.  They must score 70% or they will have to retake it until they score %100.  Their Chapter 36 study guides are also due today.

This was Tuesday

All day it felt like it should be at least Wednesday.  We've packed many lessons into only two days this week.

Livings Skills took their Library Skills Pretest today and worked on envelope entry # 6.  After the test most students worked in their Library Skills manuals trying to accumulate completed pages.

Health class completed and handed in Lesson 4B.  We also watched a promotional DVD regarding www.fueluptoplay60.com .  Students recreated the new icon for good nutrition from choosemyplate.gov

Family and Consumer Science work steadily on completing their Chapter 36 Study Guide in preparation for Thursday's Sewing Safety test.

Sleepy Monday

Even though we started our day with the magazine sale assembly, it's a dreary day and most of us are feeling a little sleepy.

In Living Skills we saw a video called Mozart, Math and Music.   The movie was filmed at the DSO (Detroit Symphony Orchestra).  We listed careers associated with math and music.

Health Class worked diligently on analyzing the food content of one day of food from last week.  This proved to take longer then expected, there fore Lesson 4B won't be due until tomorrow.

Our FACS (Family and Consumer Science) classes did a CSO (Consumer Science Observation) while watching an episode from Cosby called, "The Shirt Story".

First Full Week Complete

Our first full week of school is complete.
Living Skills classes started their balance sheet to keep track of the money they earn during the LIFE game.

Health class members teamed up with a classmate to complete a comprehension check of the September issue of Current Health.  We also tasted the results of the recipe from October's super food, walnuts.

In Family and Consumer Sciences we filled out Paystubs as we played PayDay.  We also opened our 'checking accounts' for class.
